Disaronno Amaretto liqueur is the fruit of an unusually rich tradition rooted in ancient history which was started by the Reina family. The Reina family were first mentioned in the local parish records in Saronno during the 14th century.
Towards the end of the 18th century, Domenico Reina opened an apothecary in the Piazza della Lieberta (Saronno’s main square) where people were constantly passing and stopping to shop. It was here that Signore Reina officially created the Disaronno ‘Originale’ recipe based on the innkeeper’s elixir and began to sell the liqueur commercially.
The Reina family has closely guarded the secret formula for generations and continues to produce Disaronno, under the guidance of Augusto Reina, from the distillery in Saronno, Italy.
Even now, centuries later, Disaronno is widely recognised as an icon of style, sophistication, romance and Italian culture. The popularity of Disaronno Amaretto has grown tremendously and it is now the best selling Italian liqueur in the world.
